We have to figure out a way to make the environment under the house unaatractive to living things. Then they won't go there to die.

On the openings to under my house we have wire screens, that seems to do the trick.

Are you lucky in your spouse or what? Holy-moly, she's really something. Personally, couldn't do it. Not for a dead possum. Live one stuck somewhere, yeah, probably, but not a dead one. But now I know who to call! :)

Peppermint oil. And grow peppermint around the borders. Most rodenty animals don't like it. A lot of insects don't, either. It's a blindingly sharp smell if you navigate by nose.

At least, that's what the books say...I suspect if I offered a bunch to my pet rats, they would have eaten it.
